Biography Ruth studied music at Cambridge University, where she held Choral and Instrumental Exhibitions, and the Guildhall School of Music. Since leaving the Guildhall she has performed many leading operatic roles throughout the UK and Europe, and worked with some of today's foremost conductors and orchestras. Ruth has sung the role of Mimi La bohéme in productions in the UK (Kentish Opera), France (Festival de Sédières and Opéra en Plein Air), Belgium (Idée Fixe) and most notably in Italy, where she sang the role with an international cast at the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago. Other roles include the title role in Madama Butterfly for Scottish Opera Unwrapped and Court Opera, Violetta La traviata for Kentish Opera, Riverside Opera and covered the role for English National Opera; Gilda Rigoletto for Kentish Opera; Micäela Carmen for Opera Brava; Tatyana Eugene Onegin for Kentish Opera and Opera For All and Susanna Le nozze di Figaro in performances in Belgium and France with the company Idée Fixe. Ruth has also made a name for herself in the world of contemporary music, performing the role of Kristel in the London premier of James MacMillan's Parthenogenesis broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 - a role which she also performed at the Linbury Theatre, ROH, with the Britten Sinfonia, conducted by the composer. She also performed the role of Little Moon in Judith Weir's A Night at the Chinese Opera for Scottish Opera Unwrapped and has worked as a soloist for the contemporary group Psappha. Ruth has performed extensively as an oratorio soloist, singing a great variety of works including Brahms Requiem, Verdi Requiem, Mendelssohn Elijah, Rossini Messe Solennelle, Britten Company of Heaven, Bach Magnificat, Carmina Burana and several of the Masses by Haydn and Mozart.
